Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)

Pupil premium is extra funding for eligible 3 and 4 years olds which enables school to provide extra resources, additional experiences and support to these children, and others. Flagg Nursery School also tracks the progress of and provides support to children eligible for 2 year old funding as a specific group.
Helen Woodruff is responsible for pupil premium and oversees all interventions put in place.
The early years pupil premium funding is used to resource our ECAT (Every Child a Talker) and ECAM (Every Child a Mover) intervention groups, alongside our nurture group.  These intervention groups support any children at the risk of delay, this can be a barrier to learning and consequently educational achievement.  Using the Derbyshire County Council's monitoring tool, these children are regularly assessed to ensure progress is being made. Flagg Nursery School's Governing Body closely monitor early years pupil premium, its use, outcomes and effectiveness.

Eligibility

Eligibility for pupil premium funding is dependent on the family meeting one or more of the following criteria:
  • Income support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s allowance
  • Income related employment and support allowance
  • Support under part VI of the immigration and asylum act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of state pension credit
  • Child tax credit (other criteria within this)
  • Working tax credit
  • Universal credit
  • Child being looked after by the local authority
  • Child has previously been in care
  • Adopted child
  • A special guardianship order
  • A child arrangement order
Every new starter will be given an FE1 form in their starter pack (this asks for parents’ date of birth and national insurance number). Once completed school can then apply to Derbyshire County Council for additional EYPP funding.
Two year old funding has a similar criteria but also includes children in receipt of Disability Living Allowance.
